Olympic sailor, 470 World Champion and entrepreneur Dr Kathrin Adlkofer from Hamburg has been appointed to the DOSB Finance Commission

Following her involvement in the selection committee for the sailing partner alongside the Hamburg Olympic bidders, Olympic sailor Dr Kathrin Adlkofer has now been appointed to the German Olympic Sports Confederation's (DOSB) finance committee. The co-founder of Sailing Team Germany and managing partner of Konzeptwerft in Hamburg replaces Gabriele Freitag from the DOSB Leadership Academy on the commission, which is chaired by Thomas Arnold, with immediate effect.

Thomas Arnold is counting on the breath of fresh air that the committee expects from the 48-year-old two-time 470 world champion and successful businesswoman: "We are delighted that Kathrin Adlkofer is supporting the Finance Committee with her expertise. The combination of her personal experience in competitive Olympic sport and her business expertise makes her the perfect addition to the Commission and the issues we are facing."

Adlkofer recently developed several successful business models in the areas of health and sport. As managing partner of Konzeptwerft Geschäftsentwicklung GmbH, she introduced the German Sailing League as an innovative format in German sport alongside Sailing Team Germany as an initiative to promote high-performance sailing. The successful linking of business and sport through sponsorship and marketing was and remains one of the most important tasks in both of these projects.

Adlkofer told YACHT online: "The task harbours exciting challenges and I feel it is important to make a contribution to Olympic sport and therefore also to our sailing sport." The Finance Commission advises the DOSB Executive Board on all matters relating to economic and financial management, investment management, the management of the companies owned by the DOSB and the reserves policy.

Favorite discipline: Portraits of and interviews with sailing personalities. When she started out in sports journalism, she was still intensively involved with basketball and other sports, but sailing quickly became her main focus. The reason? The declared optimist says: “There is no other sport like it, no other sport with such interesting and intelligent personalities, no other sport so diverse, no other sport so full of energy, strength and ideas. Sailing is like a constantly refreshing declaration of love for life."
